We love bakelite

Bakelite was an early form of plastic used in the early to mid 20th Century. It was used in all sorts of household items from hairbrushes to jewellery to radios, tvs and this wonderful GEC fan heater. We really enjoyed upcycling this because one of the beauties of bakelite is that it polished up like new again with some polish and plenty of elbow grease!

One of the downsides of bakelite is that it is very brittle and cracks or breaks easily This item has a couple of cracks but it adds in a wat times it’s authenticity reminding us and it’s new owner to take care!

Bakelite items are getting harder to find and we consider ourselves luck to have discovered this one.
